LimeLight – photo rejuvenation

Skin rejuvenation

LimeLight is a new, non-invasive approach to skin rejuvenation. It is very effective for improving uneven skin tone and can treat individual pigment changes such as brown age spots, freckles, skin redness and individual fine veins (telangiectasia).

How does it work?

LimeLight uses light to heat the pigment and blood in the top layer of your skin to reduce discolouration and promote a more even skin tone.

How many skin rejuvenation treatments will I need?

One to three treatments are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be recommended, especially for excessively sun damaged skin.

How long does each treatment take?

It varies according to the size of the area you are having treated. One skin rejuvenation treatment typically ranges from five minutes to 30 minutes.

What does it feel like?

When the pulse of light is delivered patients will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. It is not necessary to use a local anaesthetic or pain medication.

What can I expect afterwards?

If you have specific spots treated they will darken immediately and begin to flake off naturally within one to three weeks to reveal clearer skin. If you have general redness or fine veins treated the redness will gradually lighten over three to five treatments. Patients occasionally comment that they feel a sensation similar to “sun burn” in the treated area for up to one hour immediately following the skin rejuvenation procedure.

Will the spots and redness reappear over time?

New brown spots, telangiectasia and diffuse redness may appear with new sun damage, however they too can be treated. Remember to always apply broad spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimise sun damage and the appearance of new spots or redness.

Is it safe?

Yes, LimeLight is safe. As with all medical procedures there is a slight degree of risk and we will discuss this with you thoroughly during a consultation.

Can anyone have it done?

Anyone with a light or medium colour skin may be a candidate for LimeLight but those with darker skin tones may not. We will assess your particular skin type and let you know if you’re a candidate for skin rejuvenation at the time of consultation.

Is your IPL machine approved and registered with the TGA?

Yes, the Cutera Xeo platform is approved and registered with the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
