While more breast conserving surgery is being performed, many women still require a mastectomy as part of their breast cancer treatment. We aim to offer immediate breast reconstruction at the time of breast removal by working closely with your breast cancer surgeon.

This is ideally performed using a patient’s own tissue (usually the tissue discarded after a tummy tuck), however, implant-based reconstruction is another alternative. Depending on a number of factors, some women are not offered immediate reconstruction at the time of the mastectomy. We can perform similar reconstruction at a later stage after cancer treatment is complete, or even many years later.

High risk patients with strong family histories of breast cancer can be offered preventative mastectomy and immediate reconstruction of both breasts. This is only done in appropriate cases with significant discussion and counselling.

The following procedures are available:

  • Latissimus Dorsi Breast Reconstruction
  • Free TRAM Breast Reconstruction
  • DIEP TRAM Breast Reconstruction
  • Autologous Harvest Latissimus Dorsi Breast Reconstruction
  • Extended Latissimus Dorsi Breast Reconstruction
  • Tissue Expander Breast Reconstruction
  • Post Lumpectomy Reconstruction
  • Nipple Reconstruction

Scarless Latissimus Dorsi

Dr Mark Lee has developed a new and innovative breast reconstruction technique for minimally invasive breast reconstruction surgery. The scarless latissimus dorsi breast reconstruction procedure allows the patient’s muscle flap to effectively be harvested without scars on the patient’s back. Dr Lee hopes to make the decision to have a preventative double mastectomy less confronting for women with his new minimally invasive technique.

This technique has been published and presented internationally.
